FAQ

Where is your office located?

I’m providing sessions via telehealth. So, my office is your living room!

When are you available?

I currently have availability on weekday afternoons.

How long are our sessions?
Most sessions are about 50 minutes. Ketamine sessions require scheduling two back-to-back sessions. This is also sometimes necessary for EMDR sessions. We can make decisions about that together.
Where should I be during my virtual therapy session?

For us to have a session, you need to be in a private, quiet, stationary place, where you can be fully present and attentive to our conversation.

Even if you feel comfortable having a family member hear your sessions, I need to ensure that no one else can listen to us unless we’ve discussed having someone else join us.

Do you take insurance?

I am an “out-of-network” provider, meaning I do not work with your insurance company directly. Still, I’m happy to provide you with a monthly “superbill” for submission to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I realize this can be a financial burden for some, but I decided not to accept insurance for several reasons.

First, insurance companies limit the length and duration of our work together.

Second, insurance companies also require that I give you a specific diagnosis and document the “medical necessity” of treatment. This requirement means that I must share a lot of information about you that isn’t any of their business.

Finally, I’ve also found that every hour I spend submitting insurance claims and arguing with insurance companies is an hour that I’m not providing therapy and support to my clients.

What is your fee?
Please get in touch with me for current rates, which change periodically. I accept payments with most major credit cards. Upon beginning treatment, I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate detailing the cost of treatment.
Who are your clients?
I work with individual adults ages 18+. I don’t do couples therapy, but we can bring a partner into a session to talk through specific challenges when appropriate.
Are our sessions private?

Your privacy is paramount. Therefore, all telehealth sessions occur on a secure, encrypted platform. I take every precaution to maintain your privacy.

There are three situations where I must break confidentiality as required by law. They include the following: if you are planning to hurt yourself or someone else or if a child is in danger. In these situations, I must contact the authorities and do everything possible to keep you and everyone else safe.

I don’t have trauma; do I still need therapy?

People come to therapy for a wide variety of reasons. If there’s something in your life that you’re not happy with, whether it’s big or small, I’d love to support you in addressing it.

Will I have homework between sessions?

Like with anything else in life, the more we practice what we learn in therapy, the better we get at it. Homework is often helpful for discussing goals you’d like to accomplish in between sessions. This homework could be anything from discussing a difficult topic with your partner to applying for jobs or cleaning your kitchen.

We’ll decide on your goal together, and if you find you cannot accomplish it, we’ll discuss the barriers and let them inform our decisions about what goals to set going forward. I won’t judge or send you to detention if you don’t do your homework!

Are you an ally to gender, sexual, weight, neurodiverse, physical limitations, religious, ethnic, and racial minorities?
Yes! I welcome and support everyone. I’m aware of my privilege and work to educate myself on the oppressive systems in our society and how they affect different populations. I take my client’s cultural background and beliefs into consideration. All your identities are welcome here!
